John Lee Katana GoemonIshikawa Goemon (* 16th century; † August 10, 1594) is a Japanese folk hero. Much like Robin Hood is said to have robbed the rich and gave to the poor. Even today there are many myths and legends about him, such as the failed assassination attempt on Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and he was sentenced with other members and executed alive in boiling oil. Heroic he shall have it still tries to save his son by keeping him out of the boiler.The John Lee Katana Goemon addresses this issue. The tsuba shows, among other Goemon when he was executed by a wood engraving by Toyokuni Ichiyoai.
