Dear people, Loyal customers,

The time has come! We are moving! After years of being on the first floor of Damstraat 16 with our knife shop it is time for a new place. We are moving the knife shop from Damstraat 16 to Oude Hoogstraat 35. On Friday 19 April next, we will be open for the last time on the Damstraat, and Monday 22 April for the first time on Oude Hoogstraat 35. Don't worry, that's a stone's throw from our current spot, and so we will remain just as central and easily accessible! The aim of this move is not to disappear from the city centre, but rather to occupy a stronger position in the centre of Amsterdam. In our new premises, we are on the ground floor instead of the first floor, thus we will be more visible and recognisable as a knife shop.
As a company, even at the new location, we will remain part of the larger Old Man company that the Boardsports shops at Damstraat 14 and Rijnstraat 205, and the tobacco shop at Damstraat 16 are also a part of. However, with our new shop we are going for a fresh look, and with that comes a new name and logo. From Monday 22 April, The Old Man Knives and Tools will change its name to Staalhardt. This new name reflects our love for the product we sell, while also honouring the name of the company from which the Old Man once originated, Eberhardt Asian Art. Eberhardt was founded exactly 100 years ago this year, so it seemed appropriate! You can see our new logo above, we hope you like it!
Although it will take some getting used to for all of us, we will make sure that everyone will soon feel at home at our new location. We will continue doing what we do best, and what we have specialised in over the past decades. So we will remain the shop in Amsterdam for knowledgeable and enthusiastic advice on quality knives for outdoor enthusiasts, EDC freaks and collectors! At the Oude Hoogstraat 35 you will thus find a wide selection of products from brands like Spyderco, Böker, Benchmade, Buck, Leatherman, CRKT and Cold Steel. We will also try to further expand our kitchen knife range, but above all we will continue to buy second-hand gems from collections. Over the past years, we have already been able to make a lot of people happy with discontinued knives from brands like Spyderco, Gerber, Al Mar, Puma, SOG and Cold Steel. We are eager to continue doing this!
Next week, from 15 to 19 April, we will still be open on Damstraat, but are already packing up. For anyone who still wants to come and say goodbye to our old place, we have good news. From 15 to 19 April, we offer a 15 per cent moving discount on our entire range. So don't forget to drop by, we still have plenty of good stuff! Next, we will have a stand at the Dutch Knife Exhibition in Houten on Saturday 20 April. Be sure to visit us there as well, it’s looking to be a very promising show! We don't have many events like this in the Netherlands, so for knife-lovers in the Netherlands this is a must. On Monday 22 April we will open for the first time at Oude Hoogstraat 35. While our store will open according to our normal opening hours from then on, the official grand opening will come later. This is because the shop is already ready for use, but not quite finished yet. The invitation for the official opening will follow, so keep an eye on our e-mails and social media channels! For now, we would like to thank everyone for their loyal support and good times over the past few years! We look forward to seeing you all again in the new shop, or of course before that in the old shop or at the DKE. See you then!

Warm regards,

The Staalhardt/The Old Man Knives and Tools shop team
